Quad Strip — 20 ft standard DC block
Repeating quads whose skids sit between DC bands — the most land-efficient section layout
Overview
A vertical strip of quad units. Each unit is a PCS & MV skid sandwiched between two DC rows whose doors face the skid. Neighboring units stack blind-side to blind-side, so the skid sits in the mandatory fire separation between DC bands — the fire gap does double duty, and no land is wasted on a separate aisle. Each skid serves four blocks.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| DC blocks per repeat | 4 × 20 ft (two rows of two) |
| PCS & MV skid per repeat | 1 × 40 ft |
| Section width | 12.3 m (40.4 ft) |
Energy capacity
Per repeat. At 2h the four blocks exceed a single skid, so the solver uses Quad Split instead.
| DC block | Repeat (4 blocks) | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| 6.25 MWh | 25 MWh / 6.25 MW | 4h |
Clearance and spacing defaults
Service clearance and spacing used by default. All values are adjustable in BESSLayout.
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| DC block door side | 3.5 m (11.5 ft) |
| DC block cable end | 2 m (6.6 ft) |
| PCS & MV skid | 3 m (9.8 ft) all sides |
| Fire separation (between DC blocks of different sections) | 5 m (16.4 ft) |
Cable layout
Every DC block’s cable end faces the skid, so cable runs are short and symmetrical. At 40 ft each skid has two PCS sections — one per column.
Single repeat footprint
Land area per repeat at default clearance. Doors face the skid (inward), so the top and bottom edges are blind sides with no clearance. Cable-end clearance on each short side.

| Land use | Value |
|---|---|
| Footprint | 16.3 × 14.3 m (53.5 × 47.0 ft) |
| Total area | 234 m² (2,514 ft²) |
Multiple repeats footprint
Side-by-side repeats are separated by a fire safety distance. Vertically stacked repeats join blind-side to blind-side — the DC blocks form a quad across the boundary, so the gap is minimal.
